Laura Lee Gulledge
Who is Laura Lee?
Laura Lee Gulledge (she/ they) is an inimitable community artist, author, cartoonist, and graphic medicine woman living in a Blue Ridge Mountain schoolhouse outside of Charlottesville, Virginia.
Her books include The Dark Matter of Mona Starr, Page by Paige, and Sketchbook Dares. (Abrams Books) Plus Will & Whit has been adapted into a musical.
She is also a collaborative muralist, comics journalist, teaching artist, cuddle facilitator, and neurodiversity activist. Artners include the Kennedy Center, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Discover Black Cville, and Boys & Girls Club.
Special honors include being the inaugural graduate from the James Madison University Masters Program in Art Education and the first woman nominated for the prestigious Eisner Award for Best Lettering in comics.

Teaching Artist
I lead workshops, camps, residencies, and interactive experiences in a diverse array of settings for both youth & adults. Programs include: comics, self care plans, sketchbooks, mindfulness, and unmasking autism. *Statewide faculty with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.*

Cocreated Murals
I specialize in cocreating unique collaborative murals with young people, working with a small group or even an entire grade. Both painted + paste-up styles. Influenced by my background in comics, street art, and experience as a Macy’s NYC window scenic artist.

Seeking private lessons, coaching, or enCOURAGEment? I offer one-on-one sessions for young people as well
as adults customized to your needs. Specialties include getting unstuck, time management, idea organization, and project development.
