Who is Laura Lee?
LAURA LEE GULLEDGE (she/ they) is an author & cartoonist, passionate teaching artist with an MA in Art Ed, collaborative muralist, and Agent of Whimsy living in the foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains.
Their books include YA graphic novels The Dark Matter of Mona Starr and Page by Paige, as well as the interactive Sketchbook Dares: 24 Ways to Draw Out Your Inner Artist. (Abrams Books) Plus Will & Whit is now available to license as a musical for teens. They’ve been nominated for the prestigious Eisner and Harvey Awards as well as being selected for YALSA Teen’s Top Ten.
Laura Lee's unique style of visual storytelling explores the intersection of graphic medicine, neurodivergence, citizen artistry, and Artner love. Recent collaborators include The Kennedy Center, Charles Schultz Museum, and Discover Black Cville.
When not in the studio Laura Lee enjoys conscious dance, hiking in the woods, practicing Thai massage, and occasionally performing with The Falsies absurdist punk band & Nettle Shirt Puppet Works.
